OUR GALLERY

The Group of Seven Outdoor Gallery

In celebration of the Group of Seven and Tom Thomson’s contribution to the heritage of the Algonquin and the Huntsville areas, some of the best loved paintings of these famous Canadian artists have been replicated by modern day Canadian mural artists and framed by downtown Huntsville’s shops and services.

The Group of Seven Outdoor Gallery began in 1999 with a single mural in downtown Huntsville.  Now over 40 murals strong, the Outdoor Gallery is starting to grow beyond the boundary of downtown Huntsville across the Muskoka and Almaguin landscapes.  However, the heart of the Outdoor Gallery remains in downtown Huntsville.

The Downtown Huntsville Gallery

Stroll through downtown Huntsville in any season and enjoy over 20 murals sprinkled around the scenic town center.

Sketch Gallery

Our Sketch Gallery, located just on the outskirts of downtown Huntsville is filled with 20 mini-murals painted by Huntsville High School students under the guidance of artistic director, Gerry Lantaigne.

The murals depict sketches originally painted by Tom Thomson and Group of Seven. The murals are based on tiny canvases that were painted by Thomson and Group of Seven members during sketcing trips in Algonquin Park and the surrounding area that would have then been taken back to their studios where these artists would used these sketches to guide their detailed paintings.

Come see four of the works, which adorn the exterior walls of the Muskoka Heritage Place’s Rotary Train Station and Museum.  The remaining 16 can be enjoyed on the outside of the High School building.  Sponsored by Huntsville Festival of the Arts, North Art Supplies, and Hilltop Signs, the Sketch Gallery added a local education piece into our Gallery.
